Berik Bekenov, Chairman of the Management Board of the Kazakhstan Center for Industry and Export "QazIndustry "JSC, and Joao Emilio Goncalves, Vice President of the Brazilian National Confederation of Industry (CNI), signed a memorandum of cooperation to develop trade and economic relations between Brazil and Kazakhstan.
The meeting was organized in an online format jointly with the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Brazil represented by Ambassador Bolat Nusupov and the Embassy of Brazil in Kazakhstan represented by Ambassador Rubem Antonio Correa Barbosa.
The parties identified a number of areas of mutual cooperation, including holding consultations with the private sector of each country to determine priority issues and prospects for the development of trade and investment between the countries, organizing joint meetings of business representatives, exchanging information on the legal environment of entrepreneurship, etc.
During the meeting, Berik Bekenov noted that the cooperation of QazIndustry JSC with CNI will manifest itself in real results in the form of expanding direct business contacts between entrepreneurs of the two countries, increasing joint ventures, increasing trade turnover between the countries and, in general, will give impetus to the development of bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Brazil.
It should be recalled that the first meeting of the Business Council between Kazakhstan and Brazil is planned for November of this year.
The total trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Brazil in the first 6 months of 2021 increased by more than 4 times compared to the same period last year.
In addition, Kazakhstan's exports to Brazil have grown significantly over the past 5 years. From 2016 to 2020, the growth was almost 100% (from 25 to 47 million US dollars). Sulfur, ferroalloys, and ferrous metal products were exported to the Brazilian market.
Brazil imports such commodity items as peanuts, food products, amino compounds, pipes, engines, etc. to Kazakhstan.
