The European Union and the United States have reached an agreement on the suspension of customs tariffs on steel and aluminum, and also agreed to work on a new global agreement on steel. This had an impact on the decline in the price of aluminum last week — it fell below $2,700 per ton, down almost 17% from the highs since the middle of the month. Copper also continues to move away from the highs amid a continuing shortage of chips.
