Comments on the infographic for January-March 2021 on the construction materials industry

The production volume of construction materials in the Republic of Kazakhstan for January-March 2021 amounted to KZT 161.3 billion, which in nominal terms is 33.3% higher than the same period in 2020 (KZT 121 billion).
The index of the physical volume of production in January-March 2021 was 130.1%. The growth in physical terms is observed for the following products: refractory products (+2.4 times); ceramic non-refractory bricks (+3 times); slag wool, silicate mineral wool and similar mineral wool (+2.5 times); processed stone for monuments, decoration and construction (+2 times); commercial concrete (+77.9%); concrete products for construction purposes (+35.2%); tiles, slabs, bricks and similar products made of cement, concrete or artificial stone (+33.6%); construction solutions (+22.2%), etc.
Only one product showed a decrease in production volumes in physical terms: ceramic facing bricks (-29.2%).
Exports of construction materials products for the month of January-February 2021 increased by 9.1% compared to the same period in 2020 and amounted to US $27.6 million. In physical terms, the volume of exports increased by 21.4% to 310 thousand tons, while in the same period last year it was at the level of 256 thousand tons. The main top export countries are Uzbekistan, Russia and Kyrgyzstan.
The import of construction materials to the domestic market in January-February 2021 amounted to US $140.7 million, showing an increase of 13.1% compared to the same period in 2020. In physical terms, the volume of goods amounted to 398 thousand tons, an increase of 40.4% compared to January-February 2020 (284 thousand tons). The main top importing countries are Russia, China and Turkey.
In January-February 2021, the volume of the construction materials market in the Republic of Kazakhstan amounted to US $498 million, where the share of DP accounts for 72%, and the share of imported products – 28%.
The largest volumes of production in value terms for the period under review fall on the city of Nur-Sultan (KZT 23.9 billion), Almaty (KZT 18.1 billion) and Karaganda regions (KZT 16.8 billion).
