Global issues of territorial clusters were discussed by experts of the international conference TCI

From July 1 to 2, 2021, experts of the Kazakhstan Center for Industry and Export «QazIndustry» of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part in the International Conference «Moving forward on the Path to Recovery: green, social and digital collaboration».

The main goal is to study new experiences of cooperation as industries and countries begin to emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic. Cooperation is seen by industry leaders, politicians and society at large as the key to creating the foundation for recovery in the new environment after Covid-19.
The conference was organized by the Asian division of the TCI Network — a global network of practitioners on clusters, innovation and competitiveness-together with the Asian Regional Branch of the MOC in an online format at the CamEd Business School in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The conference was attended by over 100 delegates-leading researchers and practitioners in the field of innovation and cluster development, including TCI Network CEO – Patricia Valdenebro, TCI Network President – Meret Daniel Nelsen, uFlexReward CEO-Ken Charman, CamEd Business School President-Casey Barnett, Harvard Business School Professor-Christian Ketels, Founder of Boston Private Research University Northeastern-Michael Enright, etc.
At the conference during the session «New forms of cooperation in Asia. Solving future environmental, social and digital challenges» the chief expert of the Directorate of Regional Development of QazIndustry, Rustam Mashrupov, presented a report on the implementation of cluster policy in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The representative of QazIndustry spoke about the current state of six pilot territorial clusters (the furniture cluster of Almaty, the construction cluster of the Karaganda region, the pharmaceutical cluster of the South Kazakhstan region, the flour milling cluster of the Kostanay region, the milk processing cluster of the Akmola region and the tourist cluster of the Almaty region), and also voiced issues of their further development and replication of the experience of implementation for subsequent cluster initiatives.
"Cluster development provides opportunities to increase the competitiveness of enterprises and the effectiveness of the economic policy of the region. Clusters are recognized as an important tool for promoting industrial development, competitiveness and economic efficiency. Today, Kazakhstan is at the stage of transition from the conceptual foundations of policy to practical measures to support cluster initiatives", - Rustam Mashrupov said.
Participation in this global conference allowed us to declare Kazakhstan as a country aimed at diversifying the economy, developing entrepreneurship and building a cluster policy taking into account the best international experience.
TCI Asia Chapter is a voluntary initiative of cooperation between Asian countries within the framework of the global TCI Network. Since April 2017, QazIndustry has been an organizational member of the TCI Network, an international network of experts in the field of competitiveness and cluster development. The activity of TCI Asia Chapter is to strengthen the competitiveness of Asian clusters by strengthening the cooperation of the TCI Asia Chapter member countries and creating an innovative Asian TCI Network.
The Asian Regional Branch of MOC (Microeconomics of competitiveness) is part of the MOC Network, a special training platform developed at Harvard Business School by Professor Michael Porter and a team of colleagues from the Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness. This platform is designed for teaching at selected universities around the world.
