Production in the chemical industry increased in the first half of 2021

The volume of production of the chemical industry in January-June 2021 amounted to 252.2 billion tenge, which is 2.2% higher than in the same period of 2020.
In the production of chemical products for the analyzed period, the main share was made up of other inorganic substances-36.7%, fertilizers and nitrogen-containing substances-17.4%, dyes and pigments-8.7%, other chemical products not included in other groupings - 8.5%, pesticides and other agrochemicals – 7.5%, plastics in primary forms – 6.8%.
The physical volume index (FMI) for the analyzed period was 102.8%. The largest increase in production volumes in natural volume: additives in cement (by 1.8 times), paint putties (+12.7%), which is associated with an increase in construction work; caustic soda (by 1.7 times), sodium tripolyphosphate (+15.9%), detergents (+26.3%), hydrochloric acid (+20.9%), styrene polymers in primary forms (+8.6%), phosphorus fertilizers (+8.0%), ammonia (+3.0%) and polyurethanes in primary forms (+24.0%) due to the growth of consumer demand; chromium compounds: sodium bichromate (+49.6%), chromium oxide (+26.2%), chromium anhydride (+35.9%), chromium tanning agent (+30.1%), which is associated with the restoration of the production of JSC «AZHS».
The export of chemical industry products in January-May 2021 amounted to $375.7 million and shows an increase of 4.6% compared to the same period in 2020. The main export countries are Russia (17.6%), Germany (10.1%), Uzbekistan (7.9%).
The import of chemical products in January-May 2021 amounted to $1,278. 5 million, which is 12.2% higher compared to the same period of the same indicator in 2020. The main importing countries are Russia (49%), China (16%), the USA (4%).
The market volume of chemical products for January-May 2021 amounted to $1,390.0 million (588.4 billion tenge).
The largest volume of production of chemical products in January-May 2021 is observed in the following regions: Zhambyl (35.3%), Aktobe (11.4%), Karaganda (11.1%), Pavlodar (8.9%) and Akmola (8.3%) regions.
