The second Meeting of the Ministers of Industry of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization was held in Tashkent

On July 15, 2022, the Second Meeting of the Ministers of Industry of the SCO member states was held in Tashkent in a hybrid format under the chairmanship of the Uzbek side.

It was attended by Karabaev Marat Karimzhanovich – Vice Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Aubakirova Zhanna Tasemenovna - Deputy Head of the Directorate of Economic Integration of "QazIndustry" JSC. During the Meeting, the sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects for further interaction and deepening cooperation within the SCO in the industries.

In his speech, Marat Karabayev noted the positive result of Kazakhstan's membership in the SCO and stated that the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the SCO in 2021 amounted to $50.3 billion, which is almost $10 billion more than in the same period of the previous year. At the same time, the share of industrial goods from the total trade turnover with the SCO is more than 62%.

Also during the Meeting, the parties approved documents that will form the basis for further deepening cooperation between the SCO member states in the field of industry, namely: the Regulations of the Meeting of Ministers of Industry, which reflects the goals, directions and forms of cooperation of the Meeting of Ministers of Industry of the SCO member States; the Program for Stimulating industrial cooperation between the business circles of the SCO member states, the purpose of which are the creation of favorable conditions for the development of cooperative ties between the business circles of the SCO member states in industry.

These documents will be sent to the SCO member states through official channels for internal procedures to be signed within the framework of the meeting of the Council of Heads of SCO Member States scheduled for 2022.

In general, the Meeting was held in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding, and at the end of the event, the SCO member states signed a Protocol.
