On November 24, 2021, the first meeting of the Business Committee of Kazakhstan and Brazil, established in August 2021 on the initiative of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Brazil, took place. The event was co-chaired by Kazakhstan Industry and Export Center JSC "QazIndustry" and the National Industrial Confederation of Brazil (CNI) as part of the working visit of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Almas Aidarov to the Federal Republic of Brazil.
The event, held in an online format, was attended by companies from two countries, including JSC "Kazgeologia", JSC "NGC "Tau-Ken Samruk", ERG, KAZ Minerals, JSC "NUH "Baiterek", JSC "Kazakh Invest", JSC "Center for Trade Policy Development "QazTrade", LLP "Astana Bottlers", WEG, Bamin, JBS, BRF, FIESC, CNF, etc.
Opening the event, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Almas Aidarov noted that the establishment of the Business Committee is a historic event for the relations between the two countries and will expand bilateral economic ties through the development of direct business contacts and mutually beneficial cooperation between Kazakh and Brazilian entrepreneurs.
During the event, Chairman of the Board of QazIndustry Berik Bekenov highly appreciated the current level of trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Brazil, said that the Business Committee, which will include leading industrial enterprises of the two countries, can become an active platform and a powerful driving force for increasing trade turnover and strengthening investment cooperation.
"During the pre-pandemic period, trade between the countries developed dynamically, for example, Kazakhstan doubled the volume of exports to Brazil in 5 years from 2016 to 2020. For 9 months of this year, the volume of mutual trade amounted to $ 142.4 million, compared to the same period last year, this is 63% higher," Berik Bekenov said.
Also, the Chairman of the Board of QazIndustry stressed the need to promote Kazakhstan's exports to South America and attract Brazilian investments to our region.
In turn, CNI President Robson Braga de Andrade, noting that the establishment of this mechanism will give a powerful impetus to the entire complex of bilateral economic cooperation, declared his readiness to involve all interested local companies to realize the existing potential.
At the end of the meeting, the Kazakh side invited the CNI management and interested Brazilian companies to Kazakhstan, where, after the stabilization of the epidemiological situation in the world, it is planned to hold the second meeting of the Business Council.
